Lazy Sunday

Today has been nice. We went to church and then came home and had fajitas for lunch. I made them this morning and put them in the crockpot on warm. It was nice coming home after church and not worrying about what was for lunch. I watched a show on national Geographic about the Amish and then looked through the sale ads in the paper. It's been a relaxing day. I also made some turkey vegetable soup and gluten free muffins. I'll take the left over soup to work with me tomorrow for lunch. Tonight is Kinzie's 1st Birthday Party. She is sooo sweet. I got her the cutest pink and black tutu with a matching bow. I love her!

My flowers are starting to bloom on my trees/bushes (finally). I think they were lacking water. Since my dad fixed all of my sprinklers, things are looking much better. This is my Crepe Myrtle. I love the purple flowers. I got this from my moms yard. =)

Here are the tomato plants that Bobby & Kevin Lee planted (in my front flower beds!). You can't really see the tomatoes, but there are a lot of green ones on there.

Thursday and Friday were emotional days for me. I had to have my sister's dog Maggie put to sleep. She was about 14-15 years old and was very sick. It was so hard. Bobby and Matthew took her to the vet early Friday morning. Maggie lived with my mom after my sister was killed in a car accident a few years ago. Maggie was actually in the accident with Glenna and survived. It felt like I lost part of my sister all over again. Here is a picture of Maggie and Matthew that morning...

My day off

Today is Thursday, my day off. I love having one day a week to be home... or out doing whatever I want to be doing. My parents came over and cleaned today and then went out to chinese food with Bobby and the boys. I had a yummy wrap for lunch. It was on a whole wheat totilla with shredded turkey, diced tomato, avacado and sprouts.

Yesterday I went to Kohl's and found a really cute black & white coat for only $7 on clearance. It is light weight and ties around the waist. I am going to wear it when I go on my cruise in October. I found a cute zip up sweater for $3. I love a bargain!

Below is a picture I had to share with you... My husband and youngest son cooked chicken on the BBQ the other night for dinner. (They attempted to cook it anyway) They put it on the grills top shelf and closed the lid and walked away. When we looked outside there was black smoke pouring out of the BBQ! It was on fire! My husband finally got the water hose and put it out... kind of scary. I had to take a picture of the pour chicken before we dumped it in the garbage. Good thing I was making something totally different for me to eat that night. I shared. =)

Happy Wednesday

I am on day 5 of eating clean and I feel great! I asked Bobby to get me a Wii Fit for my 40th birthday. =) I think it will be a great tool in getting me to move this body of mine. I'm really hoping to see some weight loss results by the time my birthday rolls around (in about 6 weeks). I am sure if I added exercise into my daily schdule, I would definitely see a change. It is soooo much easier said than done!

Here are a few of my favorite books..

I love the Quick Cooking magazines. They have a lot of recipes that are family friendly. I haven't tried it yet, but I could probably replace certain items with healthier choices and still enjoy these books. Simplify you Space is a great book. It inspired me to get my kitchen drawers organized. Here are pics of those...

I love using little plastic bins to help keep things in order... even my junk drawer looks good.

More pictures to come of closets and pantry... they aren't clean yet... but they will be!

Getting things done & eating clean!

This past weekend was good. I started getting my bedroom closet cleaned up. It is a slow process, but I am liking the outcome. I went to Bed, Bath & Beyond and bought all kinds of organization stuff. My family won't know what hit them! I've also started to Eat Clean... well, as clean as possible. I am going to cut out as many processed foods as possible and eat healthier. I went to Trader Joes and Lassen's Health Food Store and stocked up on things I thought would be a good start. It is not going to be an easy change for me, but I know that it will make a huge difference in how I look and feel. Giving up coffee is hard!! I have a headache that won't go away. What sparked this sudden change of eating habits you ask? Seeing pictures of myself. I am so sad that I have let myself gain so much weight. Plus I am sick of being sick. Change is good. It isn't easy, but it is needed. I am 4 days without coffee! I hope I see results from this soon... that will keep me motivated. Exercise is next on my list of things to do. =-)

A quote by Edith Schaeffer

"Here, wherever it is, is your spot. This place should be expressing something of yourself. It should be communicating something of you to your visitors, but is should also satisfy something within you. You should feel 'at home' here, because you have made it home with something of yourself."

Home from Vegas

We got home from Vegas yesterday around 4pm. We had a really good time! Robin was surprised. =) She and I did A LOT of walking. The malls are great... even if I couldn't afford anything. We stayed on the 57th floor of the Trump Hotel. It was beautiful. The elevators were crazy fast! I will definitley be going back.

This weekend, my plans are to tackle the closets in my laundry room and my bedroom/bathroom. I have been buying baskets to help put things in order. I am going to go through my clothes and shoes and downsize. I am so tired of looking at all of it. I have a hard time getting rid of things because I am sentimental. I've decided to take pictures of things that I want to remember, and then let it go. I can scrapbook the pictures of memories and look at them anytime I want to. Goodwill here I come!

Pictures and more

I took before shots of my pantry, my linen closet and my bedroom closet. I will post them as soon as I figure out how to do it. =) Plus, I kind of want to work on after shots too... so you don't all think I am a total slob! More to come on my organization journey...

Last night we played our 2nd co-ed game and won! It was so fun. I didn't hit very well, which really irks me because I am a good hitter. Guess I am in a slump. Batting cages here I come!

This Tuesday is my good friends 40th birthday. Her husband is surprising her by taking her to Vegas for a couple of nights. My husband and I are going too... which will really surprise her! I am so excited about the trip... I can't wait to go and see her face. My 40th is just around the corner, so I am celebrating with her. We are going to stay in a 5 star hotel (The Trump) and go see The Blue Man Group show. We tried to get the Beatles LOVE tickets but they were sold out.

Tomorrow is Father's Day. We are having a luncheon following the service in the morning and then my inlaws will be coming over for dessert later that afternoon. I am hoping to take Bobby out to dinner that evening with the boys. I got him a Blue Ant for his gift. It is a hands free thing that goes in your car and attaches to your cell phone. I hope he likes it. If he doesn't, i guess it'll go in my car. =)

OK... so I am an "organization" wanna be. I read books (hundreds of them!) and magazines to see how to do it. I have actually even put in to practice some of what I have read. =) My kitchen for instance. The drawers are in tip top shape and I love it! It makes me happy every time I put away dishes or go to find something. (even my junk drawer is in order) This is how I want my whole house to be. I've decided that this blog will be the beginning of my "de-clutter, get organized" journey. I will post pictures and ideas as I go. It will actually end being a mish mash of things because I get side tracked very easily and I will almost for sure share lots of things that have nothing to do with organization. =) I love to play softball, read good books, shop & eat with friends and plan activities for the ladies at church.
